Neil loved spending time with family and friends, and was much loved in return. He particularly enjoyed being at Whispering Winds campground playing horseshoes and darts, and sitting by the campfire. He loved anything IT and computer related, playing guitar, and taking naps.
Neil is survived by his partner, Karla Firth, daughters Roseanna (Brandon) and Levonne (Josh) Grier, sons Jonathan Hudye and Joseph (Meta), sister Cheryl, brothers Al (Jean), Jerry (Pam), Brian (Giselle) and Peter (Kellye), Karla’s family: Carl and Retamay Firth (parents), Kara (Richard) Firth (sister), daughters Brittanie (Graham) Firth and Jodie (Sam) Nazvesky, and son Ryan (Caitie) Firth-Tessier, 15 grandchildren, including those he happily shared with Karla’s family, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by mother Joan, father Gerald, daughter Emily Rose, and a number of aunts and uncles.
Informal visitation and gathering will be held on Friday, March 11 at JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive in Halifax, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Cremation will take place and Neil’s wishes will be honored at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the IWK foundation or the charity / cause of choice. Neil was immensely grateful to his family and friends for lifting his spirits and supporting him during the past few weeks. Gratefully, Neil passed away peacefully and pain free, completely surrounded by his loving family.
Very special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at the QEII emergency department, who were so attentive to Neil and supportive to the family despite being very busy. Special thanks also to the kind staff of the VG 6th floor and Cancer Centre doctors. Special thanks to Zinck Computers for their kindness and friendship towards Neil.
