With broken hearts, we sadly announce the sudden passing of Olga King, of Halifax, on Wednesday, November 1st at the Halifax Infirmary. Olga was a gentle, devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a most kind-hearted friend. Born in Marathon, ON, and raised in White River, ON, she was the daughter of the late Barbara and Gino Lusko. She began her education in White River, followed by moves to Thunder Bay and then Sudbury to further her studies. While working for the CPR in Sudbury, she met and then married Bob King, an OPP officer. As a provincial police officer’s wife, she experienced moves to many parts of Ontario and embraced each new opportunity wholeheartedly. While living in Georgetown, ON, Olga successfully trained as a Registered Nursing Assistant and attained a full-time position at the Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital. She cherished this opportunity to help others and truly enjoyed the many friends she made while nursing. After retirement, Olga settled with her husband in Bedford for 18 years, then more recently moved to Halifax. She was a faithful member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and curler and in later years Olga enjoyed seeing the world through travel (Singapore, Korea, Europe, Caribbean, Hawaii). Olga’s greatest love, however, was her family, to whom she gave herself entirely. She leaves behind: her beloved husband, Augustine Robert (Bob) King; loving daughter, Maureen, and special son-in-law, Paul McVicar; treasured grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and William; loving sister, Mary Stubbs; special nieces, Linda Crawford and Darlene Maki, and numerous nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, two sisters and three brothers. The memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7th at the chapel of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax; reception to follow. Her beauty, both inside and out, was truly a gift to us all and we will miss her with all our hearts.
