

Born in Halifax, Richie was the son of the late John Leo Arsenault and Evelyn Arsenault (McIntyre) of Grand River, Prince Edward Island.
Richie worked as a well-known and respected mechanic his whole life. He took great pride in his work and had a true passion for cars. There wasn’t much on wheels he couldn’t fix or drive. His great sense of humor and detailed stories would keep anyone in his presence intrigued wanting to hear more. Richie was an extremely strong minded man who conquered and achieved many obstacles in his life, including thirty one years of sobriety. Richie was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, who would bend over backwards for anyone in need.
Richie’s children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter were his pride and joy. Anyone and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him loved, respected, and adored him. Richie is survived by the love of his life, Darlene Dugas (Halifax) who he called his angel. Darlene cared and devoted herself day and night, along with their oldest daughter, Sherri whom he also considered an angel. He called them “Richie’s Angels”. Darlene not once leaving his side, watched him take his last breath. He is also survived by daughters, Sherri, Brittany who was his “doll doll” (Robbie), Alyssa his “princess” (Jake), son, Matthew his “Little Buddy” (Haley), Richie was proud to say he followed his footsteps also a mechanic, Denise, who he called his step daughter; sisters, Be, Barb (Sue), Sandra (Michael), Valerie and Carla; brothers, Willard, Derek (Brenda), Tom (Donna), Wayne (John) and Johnny; grandchildren, Danielle, Jayme, Mason, Riley; and great granddaughter, Ariah; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richie was predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Gerald (Zar), Donald (Ducky) and Dale; sisters-in-law, Pat Arsenault, Thelma Moulton.
Cremation has taken place. There will be e memorial service at 2pm on Monday February 23 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. There will be a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
