Rita Mary Sampson

SAMPSON, Rita Mary – 92, of Halifax, formerly of St. Peter’s Cape Breton, NS, passed away on November 6, 2012 at Northwood Terrace, Halifax. Born in Rockdale, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Dan E and Mary Jane Martell of Rockdale, Cape Breton, NS. Rita was a housewife and a caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed storytelling. She is survived by daughters Diane Peters, Shirley Racine, Lorraine Sampson, Mary-Ann Heighton, Theresa Fudge, Claire Sampson, Sandra Coackley, Carol Sampson of Halifax; son Wayne Sampson, Halifax; sister Rose Burton, Bridgewater; brother Alonzo Martell, Cape Breton; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by husband Hubert Sampson; brothers Michael Martell and George Martell.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Friday, November 9th from 2-4pm. Memorial service will be held at a later date in Cape Breton and interment will be held in Mount Calvary Cemetery, L’Ardoise, NS at a later date.
