

Robert Winston Hanscomb – 71, of Halifax. It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Winston Hanscomb announces his passing. He passed away August 2, 2012 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Aroostook, NB he was the son of Lillian (Balch) Hanscomb and the late Wilfred Hanscomb. During his military career he worked with Royal Canadian Navy from the years 1957-1962, and the Canadian Air Force (military police) from 1966-1973. Bob was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, as a 3rd degree Knight. He received his life masters in bridge in 2011. During his career Bob worked for various companies as a sales representative, and also owned and operated businesses locally and around the world in the entertainment and food industry, retiring (semi) in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Ryan) Hanscomb; son, Richard William Hanscomb; sisters, Elizabeth (Rob), Barbara, Lynn; brothers, Edward (Bonita), Douglas (Mary Frances), and John (Shirley); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Hanscomb. Visitation will be held Thursday August 9, 2012 from 4 – 8 pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Chapel Friday August 10, 2012 at 1:00pm. Private family burial will be held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Prospect, NS. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Hope Cottage, Halifax, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation.
