

"Bob"— On February 12, 2010, Robert Lawrence Stailing, lifelong resident of Halifax, passed away after a brief illness in his 90th year. Born on May 1, 1919, Bob was a well-known hockey player on such teams as the Moncton Maroons, the Amherst Ramblers and the Waverley Goldiggers. He was very involved in Scouts Canada and the Halifax Rotary Club and curled for many years at the Mayflower Curling Club. He loved to swim at the Waegwoltic Club and was an avid hunter and bridge player. Bob took over the family business, Stailing Real Estate Service on Argyle Street in the late 1950s and was a prominent member of the downtown business community. He served as Chairman of the Nova Scotia Housing commission for several terms and was a Board Member of Northwood Manor. He will be tremendously missed by his children, Barbara Stailing (Frank), Halifax; Bruce (Valeria), Glen Haven; John (Hal), Stillwater Lake; Elizabeth Rouleau (Denis), Ottawa; stepdaughter, Ingrid DePauw and family, Kingston. He is lovingly remembered with much affection by his grandchildren, Robin Young, Brent Stailing, and Claire and Adam Rouleau. He will be greatly missed by his many friends at the Berkeley Gladstone, especially Reit Koetsier. Bob is also survived by his cousin George Stanford, Chicago. Bob was predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Ruth Dunn Stailing, Sydney; sister, Shirley Bryan, Victoria; and spouses, Dorothy McKee Robertson (Stailing) and Anne DePauw Stailing,son-in-law Richard J. Young. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 15, and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 10 a.m. both in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
