Robert Frederick Walker, 89, of Halifax, NS, passed into the presence of his Saviour and Lord on January 4, 2018. He was born in London, England, February 11, 1928 to John and Lily May Walker. In August, 1940, he and his brother, Bill, arrived at Pier 21, Halifax, as child evacuees during WWII. While living in Moncton, NB, he met and married the love of his life, Marion. They celebrated their 66th anniversary on September 1, 2017. Bob’s career as an accountant led his young family to Charlottetown, PEI. He was employed by Hospital and Health Services Commission and at the time of his retirement in 1990, he held the position of Assistant Director of Finance. Bob’s passion for serving God inspired his daughters and others to pursue the same devotion. His love for studying the Bible opened up many opportunities throughout his life to share his wisdom with children, youth, and adults. Bob was often found puttering in his workshop, photographing nature, listening to Gospel quartet music, reading, doing crossword puzzles and enjoying fun activities with his family. His quick British wit was loved and appreciated by those blessed to catch it! Bob’s biggest woodworking accomplishment was the design and construction of the cottage they enjoyed for 26 summers in Cumberland, PEI. The prime location overlooking the beautiful Northumberland Strait prompted the common response, “I could sit and look at this view forever!” His daughters and their families, and many other relatives and friends, happily spent many summer vacations with Grampy and Grammie and treasure those memories in their hearts to this day. Bob is survived by his wife, Marion, daughter Kathy (James) Lai of Bedford, daughter Susan (Neil) Halliday of Halifax, several grandchildren and great-children, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Bill, and his daughter, Sharon Savard. Visitation at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia, January 12, 2018 from 6PM-8:00PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on January 13, 2018, at Birch Cove Baptist Church, Halifax with reception following. Private interment will follow on Monday.
