

BUNGAY, Rupert William —83, Halifax, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary with his loving family and best friend, Donna by his side. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Isaiah Charles and Gladys (Graves) Bungay. As a young boy he was a member of the Halifax Herald and Mail Harmonica Marine Band. He had a great love for all animals and in his teens raised rabbits, fancy pigeons and chickens. He attended Bloomfield School and graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School with honours in French and German. He furthered his education in engineering at Dalhousie University, later accepting an Assistant Management position at Bank of Nova Scotia. He was employed at HMCS Dockyard as a Principal Clerk and with Maritime Paving and Testing, as an inspector. He enjoyed lengthy conversations with his many friends and also singing and playing guitar. He is survived by brother, Charles (Marjorie), Middle Sackville; sister, Marjorie Burgoyne (Paul), Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Howard and Carl. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday, June 6 and a memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, June 7, all from Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie Street. Interment will follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. Donations in memory of Rupert may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
