It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth Lively (Logan), on August 27th, 2024, at the age of 95. Ruth was born in Detroit on June 29th, 1929, and was a lifelong resident of Armdale.
Ruth was known for her dry sense of humor, quick wit, and unforgettable one-liners. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and captivating presence made a significant impact on everyone she met. Ruth was a master storyteller and a dedicated worker, particularly enjoying her time in the catering field. Her love for cooking, baking, and entertaining was matched only by her devotion to her family.
An avid nature lover, Ruth cherished bird watching, traveling, long drives, and trips to the beach. In her later years, she found joy in camping in Hubbards, continuing this passion until just a few weeks before her passing—a testament to her spirited and enduring nature.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, David (Sam) Lively, and her brothers Wilfred, John (Jack), and Paul Logan. She is survived by her son David, and daughters Brenda (Jim) Stevens, Lorraine, and Faye Lively; her grandchildren Davina and John David Lively, Jameson Stevens; her great-grandchild Julianna Brielle Lively; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Lorraine for her unwavering care and support of our mother.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on September 22nd, 2024, at JA Snow Funeral Home (339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax) from 2-4 PM. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. In addition, to honor Ruth, we invite you to share a cup of tea and a sweet treat with a friend.
