It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our dear Sandy on February 6, 2015. Born October 28, 1964, in Halifax, she was the daughter of Betty Brown and the late Aubrey Brown of Dartmouth. Sandy graduated with honours from Prince Andrew High School in Dartmouth and later from Dartmouth Vocational School from the Secretarial Program.
Immediately following graduation, she began her career with TD Bank where she worked as the administrator of the Operations Division until the birth of her son, Keith.
Sandy was a tremendous athlete in her youth, excelling at basketball, horseback riding, swimming, paddling, downhill skiing, curling, and enjoyed attending summer camp. At the time of her death she was a season ticket holder with the Halifax Mooseheads and loved attending the games. She was an avid scrabble player who was usually on the winning end.
In 1982, she met her future husband, Martin, who was her soul mate, best friend, and one true love. She could never have asked for a better or more loving husband. They loved each other deeply. They married in 1988 and were blessed with the birth of their son Keith in 1991.
Sandy loved all her family so much. In addition to her husband and son, “Grandma” was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Sydney, Logan, and Brooklynn, who were her joy. She also loved her dogs, Bailey, Morgan, and Java, who were her constant companions. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Keith, (Erika Bronson) and their children; mother, Betty Brown (Dartmouth); father-in-law, Von Brault (Bedford), brother, Dr. David Brown (Thunder Bay); sisters, Nancy (Richard) Cashen, Dartmouth, and Jacqueline (James) Douglas, Enfield. Also sister-in-law, Michelle Chahley (NB); brother-in-law Derek Brault (AB) along with many nieces and nephews.
Sandy never let her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis define her and accepted her situation with grace and dignity without complaint or sadness. Sandy had the most beautiful smile that could light up a room and make those around her happier for being with her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 2:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., 902-455-0531. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NS MS Society in Sandy’s memory.
