Sharon Elaine Elizabeth Hogg, 67, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, surrounded by loving family in her home of Wellington, NS.
The heart of our family, she is survived by her son Jameson and, daughter-in-law, Lindsey MacCabe; sister, Kathy Melanson (Gerry Melanson); brother, Danny Brophy (Dawn Elsheik, passed); niece, Laurie Proctor (Fred Proctor) and great nephews, Jake Pinks, Evan Proctor and Hudson Brown; niece Seryne Elsheik and nephew Aaden Elsheik; sister-by-marriage, Heather Baron, and nephews, Lee and Gary Baron and their families. She cherished her friends, many of whom she considered family, and has taken to the skies to reunite with loved ones – her beloved husband, Stewart Hogg; parents, Donald and Carole Brophy; nephew, Andrew; sister-in-law, Dawn (Brown) Elsheik; and, parents-in-law, Bill and Calene Hogg.
Sharon had an incredible gift for finding positivity, and embraced every opportunity to bring family and friends together to celebrate those she loved. She found her calling as a dedicated and compassionate Health Benefits Broker — an expert in her field who empowered individuals and provided invaluable support during times of need. Sharon had a generous spirit, always giving to others and to causes close to her heart. One of her most fond contributions was raising funds for the Cobequid Community Health Centre by canoeing on Grand Lake, a special place to the family. It was there, surrounded by nature, that she, Stewart and Jameson spent their summers on the water, embracing the beauty of the outdoors, boating and fishing. Sharon enjoyed a love of music and always had the perfect lyrics to sing for any occasion, turning everyday life into a melody. Strong and determined, Sharon took charge of her own destiny throughout her life, right until the very end.
Sharon touched countless hearts and will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Our guiding light, she will forever inspire us and be profoundly missed.
A special thanks to Nikki Kelly of the Medical Assistance in Dying program. Your compassionate help was exemplary.
A celebration of life ceremony and reception will be held from on Friday, February 21 from 2-4pm at JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Halifax Hospice.
