Mom passed peacefully on Thursday June 11, 2020 in her home at Drummond Hall, Parkland Clayton Park. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on August 5, 1927, Shirley was the only child of the late Clarence and Beatrice Naves, and step-daughter of Samuel McLellan. Shirley was the loving wife of the late Harold C. (Kip) Roberts and cherished mother of daughters Pam Flight (former spouse Graham) and Lynn Johnson (Bill). A devoted grandmother to Adam and Grace (Flight). Shirley treasured her husband and marriage, loved her family and friends, and had many happy memories of their years spent at the family cottages at Mason’s Point, St. Margaret’s Bay, and later, Sherbrooke Lake…as well as sailing/motoring on the various ‘Kittiwake’ vessels here and in Florida with Dad. Mom was caring, fun loving, and kind to everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed. We were glad to have her in our lives every day!
Many thanks to the caregivers from Home Instead, and particularly Eileen and Cynthia, for assisting Mom with compassion and caring. Also we are grateful for the care of Dr. Valerie Lewis, Gerontologist, and the staff at Drummond Hall, all of whom did their very best, every day, to meet Mom’s needs, and to support she and her family. Thank you also to Mom’s friends, advisors, and supporters who have made her 92 years on this earth so rich and satisfying.
Mom has been cremated and will be reunited with the one great love of her life following a graveside service. Family only, as per COVID-19 protocols.
