

Tilley, Sidney William (Sr.) 1914-2014. Sid was born in Glace Bay on December 25, 1914 and passed away on October 31, 2014 at the Halifax Infirmary QEII. He was a son of the late Kenneth and Angus (Taylor) Tilley. Sid is survived by his daughter Nancy (George) LeBlanc, Halifax, and a son Richard Tilley of Anaheim, California.
Sid was a coal miner in Cape Breton and this is where he met the love of his life Dora Jackson, who passed away in February 2014 after 74 years together. He was predeceased by a son Sidney William Tilley (Jr).Sid served overseas for three years during the Second World War. After the war he moved his family to Amherst and ran Tilley's Meat Market on Russell Street for many years with his wife Dora. Sid shared a love of horses with his daughter Nancy, and enjoyed riding. In 1966 he moved his family to the Annapolis Valley. He worked at Greenwood Air Base for several years, and then picked apples in his seventies. He then spent many a day with Danny at Standard Auto Glass in New Minas and in his nineties with Jeff at New Minas Sheet Metal.
Sid spent the past six years with his daughter Nancy and son-in-law, George, in Halifax. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 15th
