Born in Halifax, he was the son of Stewart MacPhee and Bonnie (Ethel) MacPhee (nee Frederick, nee Trethewey). He is survived by his son, James R. MacPhee of Halifax. His sisters, Sherry Caldwell of Annapolis Royal, NS; Catherine Richards of Halifax, and Joy Trethewey of Halifax. He has 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Eric ‘Rick’ Trethewey of Virginia.
Steve was an avid musician with a passion for guitars. He enjoyed writing and producing his own music. Steve loved nothing more than a good ‘jam session’ or just hanging out with friends and strumming his 6 string. He also loved playing hockey as a goalie and was a long time Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
In his younger years, he enjoyed visiting his sister, Sherry, in the Annapolis Valley. They painted together, made a video together, wrote the script, did the acting, the camera work, and the editing.
Steve made frequent visits to MacNab’s Island, our mother’s birthplace.
His niece, Natasha, adored her uncle Steve. He will always be the young man rescuing the “tiniest frog I’ve ever seen.”
Steve was a devoted father to his son, James and a loving brother to his 3 sisters. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
“If you believe in forever,
That life is just a one-night stand
If there’s a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they have one hell of a band”
