Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Stephen Joseph McMullin passed away peacefully with his family by his side on, April 2, 2026 at the age of 80 years.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 56 years, Beverley; his children: Robin McMullin Lawrence (Gwen Mark Lawrence); Tracey Evans (Craig Evans); his grand-children: Jack Evans (Jason Rose), Emily Evans (Tyler Eavis), Maximus Lawrence, Augustin Lawrence, and great-grandchild: Elliot Eavis; sister Maureen Bellefontaine; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: Stephen McMullin, Eileen (Weaver) and brother: Eric McMullin.
Steve attended St. Mary’s University, where he was part of Bishop Burke House and made lifelong friends. He was an outstanding man of faith, charity, and generosity, and was known as someone who could fix anything, and loved doing it. Steve worked for 33 years at Russell Metals as plant foreman, and in retirement continued working for another 23 years as a driver for the Sisters of Charity. He took great pride in hard work, and any job he tackled was done to perfection. In his free time, Steve enjoyed spending time with friends and family, boating on Prospect Bay, and working on projects with his wife, Beverley. They always had something on the go: usually building, painting, or gardening around their beautiful property where they hosted many a memorable occasion. Perhaps his life is best captured in his own words: “I must endure everything that comes my way. This I will do until I can’t. This is when I will die.” He endured; he lived with quiet strength, and he will never be forgotten. Those who knew him were better for it, and his memory will remain a blessing.
Visitation will be April 9th, 3:30-6:30; Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
Funeral Mass will be April 11th, 10:00; St. Joseph’s Church, 3709 Prospect Rd, Shad Bay. Reception to follow downstairs in the hall.
Memorial donations may be made in Steves’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the staff of the QEII Infirmary, unit 7.4 and West Bedford Transitional Health for their care and compassion.
