

Born in Amiraults Hill, Yarmouth in 1924.
Sylvia worked for Bonda Textiles in her teens before marrying Walter and moving across Canada in 1944. They returned to raise a family in Uplands Park in 1967. Sylvia owned Cathy’s Kitchen Takeout, Hammonds Plains Road from 1970-72, and will be fondly remembered for 23 years at Green Gables, Hammonds Plains Road, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed visiting family, taking day trips, knitting, gardening and cooking, as well as fun times with her neighbours.
Predeceased by her husband, Walter; siblings, Domatille (at birth), Alphonse, Leonard, Clifford, Clarence, Terrence and Mae (Nickerson). Survived by children Jim (Lynn), BC; Bruce, BC; Donna Bonnelly (Robert), Sackville; Peter (Paula), Dartmouth; Chris (Sherea), Halifax; Bryan (Elaine), Dartmouth; Tracey, Hammonds Plains; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 11:30 am in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Special thanks to Linda Bond for home haircuts and Dr. Christine Langley, Charlotte Doucette, RN, VON for compassion and help in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homeward Bound or Hope for Wildlife in her name.
