With a sadness mixed with love and peace, her family announces the passing of Teresa MacLellan of Ben Eoin, at the age of 98. Teresa was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Joseph Vassallo and Catherine (MacDonald) Vassallo, and all of her siblings. Surviving are her children Jean Boudreau (Bernie), Judy Connolly (Mike), Robert MacLellan (Linda), Cathy Newman (Paul), and David MacLellan (Rosemary). She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Corinne, Brian, and Doug Boudreau, Maureen and Colleen Connolly, John, Andrew and Kathleen MacLellan, and Matt and Laura Newman, as well as three great grandchildren: Enya and Owen Hickey, and Helen Boudreau. Each one was precious to her.
Teresa, a strong and loving woman, was a full partner with John in creating a home in Ben Eoin that became a uniquely welcoming refuge for many people – both family members and others. Whether gardening, baking tea biscuits or expecting the best from all her extended family, she did nothing in half measure. When Teresa greeted you at the door, you knew you were in a special place. A woman of definite opinions which she didn’t hesitate to share, her constant underlying core was her fierce loyalty to her family.
To quote the poet John Donne: “Send not to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.” An important piece of our lives has been taken, but we will live always with her legacy.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J.A.Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 28 with the funeral service at 10 am on Friday, May 29, Canadian Martyrs' Parish, Halifax.
