Born to Dora and Harry Woriniski, Tom was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Tom enjoyed a long and successful career, first with the Manitoba Department of Highways, and then as a Surveyor for Ontario Hydro. He was married in 1962 to Sandra (Counsell) Warren and had two children, Claire (Michael Kidd) and Kent (Li Zhang). Tom was dedicated to his family throughout his life, regularly volunteering to coach his children’s sports teams. In retirement, Tom and Sandra moved to Nova Scotia to be closer to family. They spent many years curling and golfing, travelling the world together, enjoying a cold one under the Florida sun, and religiously following the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers through their highs and lows.
In his later years, Tom enjoyed a variety of of hobbies. His favourites included arguing (especially when he got the last word), stirring up conversations with a controversial opinion, and fighting with his In-Laws over which era of hockey was the greatest. Spoiler alert - He preferred the old days.
Tom’s commitment to Sandra was un-matched. His wife of 63 years, she kept him in line and, mostly, out of trouble. We often said that she deserved a medal for her years of service. Tom is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, Christian, Mitch and Katie (Alex).
Claire, Kent, and Family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Berkeley in Bedford for their continued support, Dr. Veronik Lepage for her incredible care over the years, and the 7th floor staff at the Halifax Infirmary, especially Nurse Greg, for their compassion and care in Tom’s final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please consider a donation in Tom’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Feed Nova Scotia.
