Vera Blanche Sutherland

Sutherland, Vera Blanche (nee Dillman) - It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Vera Blanche Sutherland, on Sunday, July 24th, 2016, while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Meaghers Grant, on October 27, 1931, she was the daughter of James and Mary (McGrath) Dillman. Surviving siblings are her identical twin sister, Verna Eisener and brother, Charlie Dillman. Also surviving is her friend, Don.

Vera moved to Dartmouth at a young age and quickly became one of the infamous “Dillman Twins”. Married in September 1953, to Reginald Stanley Sutherland, they went on to have three children, Stanley (Karen), Barry (Leslie) and Heather (Peter Emmett). “Grammy” was especially proud of her four grandchildren, Rebecca (Jeff) and Alison Sutherland, Scott and Hannah Emmett.

A special thanks to the staff at Parkland and Parkstone Facilities. The service will be at J. A. Snows Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia… As Vera would say, “It’s time to jump into bed and cover your head”.
