

Marguerite “Margie” Conrad passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at The Ivy Meadows in Beaverbank, NS. Born September 11, 1921 in Springhill, Margie grew up in Truro. She was a daughter of the late Wilbert and May (Etter) Smith.
Margie was educated at Colchester County Academy and Success Business College in Truro. Upon graduation she worked for Stanfields. Following her marriage, Margie moved to Halifax. She was an active member of J. Wesley Smith United Church and later attended St. John’s United Church. Margie worked for Sears, Halifax where she made many close friends over the years.
In her younger days, she was a beautiful skater. Margie also had a passion for music, particularly piano, both playing and listening to her favourites. She enjoyed family holiday get-togethers and was a gracious hostess to all who visited. Margie will be remembered for her kindness, wonderful sense of humour and quick wit.
She will be sadly missed by Gordon, her husband of 64 years, son Blair (Halifax), daughter Karen (Toronto), sister Ruth Kells (Dartmouth) and nephew David Kells (Bedford). The family would like to thank the staff at The Ivy Meadows for their excellent care over the past two years.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at J. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Service will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:00pm at J. Snow Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Cooke officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at a later date.
