

Age 71, died peacefully in Halifax on November 2nd, 2015. Born in New Glasgow, NS, he was the son of William John and Marie Audrey (Payzant) MacInnes.
Bill received his education in Halifax, attending Gorsebrook Public School, Queen Elizabeth High School and Dalhousie University where he obtained his undergraduate and law degrees. Bill began his career at the law firm of MacInnes, Wilson and Hallett and then continued in private practice until the time of his death.
He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and enjoyed curling and golf, maintaining long-time memberships at both the Halifax Curling Club and Ashburn Golf Club. Throughout his youth, Bill enjoyed summer vacations spent at White Point Beach Resort with his family. Later in life, he continued this same tradition with his own children and grandchildren. He was a loving father who provided valuable counsel and support to all of his five children.
The family would like to thank the many friends and health care providers who supported Bill during his lengthy illnesses. He is survived by his mother, Marie MacInnes; daughters, Christine and Susan (Tanya); sons, Craig (Amanda), Sean and Steven (Angela); sisters, Barbara (John David) Wade, Catherine (Bill) Leslie, Christine (Tom Scheibelhut) MacInnes; cousins, Jane (Merrill) Edwards and Virginia O’Connell; two grandchildren, Ceilidh and Liam and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William John MacInnes and aunts, Marion and Anne.
Visitation and memorial will be held Friday, November 6 from 4 - 8 pm at Snow’s Funeral Home located on Lacewood Dr. in Clayton Park. A wake/celebration of Bill’s life will be held Saturday, November 7 from 11 am - 3 pm at Durty Nelly’s Pub on Argyle St. in Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A family interment will take place at a later date.
