April 6, 1932 - August 3, 2010
Beloved husband of Diane Connolly Peters, loving father of Robert (Kathryn), devoted grandfather of Amy and Robyn.
He was the first son of William Aloysius Peters and Mary Jane Brett, and a brother to Marion Mason (Carrol), Carol Moser (Byron), Janet Smith (Robert), Donald Peters (Verna) and the late Patricia Clark (Allan).
Bill attended Dartmouth schools and St. Mary’s University where he attained the designation of C.I.M. His career included Vice President of Finance at Boland’s Ltd. and roles with the Commission on Higher Education, and the Department of Education with the Province of Nova Scotia.
He was a sailor, and was happiest when sailing his boat ‘Brisk Too’ on the waters of Mahone Bay or racing in the Marblehead races. He found great joy in music and played the violin and the clarinet. His deep appreciation of music covered the broad spectrum from classical music to jazz and blues.
In his early years, Bill was a member of the Kiwanis Youth Band and Air Cadets, and was a crucifer at Christ Anglican Church. As an avid sailor, he was an active proponent of safety and seamanship for yachters and fishermen. He was a past District Commander of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and an enthusiastic member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Over the years, Bill built enduring friendships that lasted a lifetime.
