If there is anything in heaven that needs to be fixed, you gained a man that was known to fix anything. Born on August 13, 1942, in the Bay to parents John Edward and Ruby Mason. On April 16, 2026, Willie left this journey at Oceanview Manor to go home with lost loved ones. Willie settled in Boutilier’s Point in the late 60s and lived in his home right up to last year where he was battling many illnesses, cancer, COPD, and Alzheimer’s. Dad met his wife, Betty Lou, and then came two sons - Jody and Troy. Willie worked hard from painting cars at Citadel Motors in Halifax, then to D & A Garage in the Bay and then spent a period with Keizers Auto Body in Sackville. Eventually Willie found his way to the Halifax Shipyards where he worked 20 plus years. On retirement, Willie just lived a quiet life at his home, tinkering in the basement with his vast collection of tools.
Dad is survived, by his sons, Troy and Jody, his grandchildren, Amelia, Curtis, Meredith, Maria, Cody, and Shawna. Also surviving is his brother Lenny (Penny) and his sister Marion (Sis). Predeceased by brothers Louis, Wayne, Tommy.
We can’t say enough about the people at Oceanview Manor who looked after Willie. They were so kind and compassionate – we always knew he was being cared for.
Celebration of life to take place 2-4 pm Sunday, May 3rd in the J.A. Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
