Yvonne Thibault, 59 of Williamswood passed away peacefully Thursday May 21, 2015 in the home she built by hand with her husband Gilbert. Born in Spryfield she was the daughter of Thelma and the late Bruce Hubley.
She graduated from the VG School of Nursing in 1978 and worked as a Registered Nurse for 37 years at the old Camphill and Infirmary, and then the QEII. She was respected for her bedside manner and always received appreciation for her diligent attention to detail. She was a nurse to everyone and used her knowledge generously by helping her friends and family when they needed medical advice and while providing end-of-life care to her father and Gilbert’s parents. She was an angel on Earth.
She was a beautiful, athletic and youthful woman with a warm, welcoming smile who would not hesitate to stop you for a chat while at the grocery store buying food for the wonderful meals she would enjoy cooking. She was empathetic and thoughtful and took pride in picking out and sending cards for every occasion.
She loved to camp, travel down south for holidays, and was looking forward to traveling around the world. She could often be found riding shotgun with Gilbert in their antique cars.
She was a selfless worker who would not hesitate to volunteer her time. She would arrive early and leave once everything was cleaned.
She was dedicated to her children and husband and her family of neighbors on Acres Road who gave her endless moments of laughter and good cheer. She was like an additional mother to the friends of her sons and always put extra effort into making even the simplest activity special.
She is survived by her devoted husband Gilbert of 36 years and her sons Dereck (Jillian Houlihan) and Neil; her mother Thelma Hubley, sister Maureen and brothers Carl (Deborah K. Smith), Mark (Jean), and Ross (Barb), all of Halifax; and her granddoggy Frankie. She was predeceased by her father Bruce.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5-9pm on May 30, 2015 at J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax.
The family wishes to thank VON Halifax and Palliative Care for their extraordinary care and the doctors and nurses of 7.3 at the Halifax Infirmary.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Society and VON Halifax.
