Billy Mac Brown, (82), of Aleman, Texas, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 19, 2020. Born June 22, 1938, in Coryell County, Billy Mac was a longtime resident of Hamilton County and the Aleman community.
Billy Mac is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Linda (Schrank), who he married on October 19, 1957, in Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Aleman, where he became a lifelong member. He is also survived by their three daughters and their families: Donna Brown of Austin (and husband Gilbert Beall, and children Britney, Blake, and Andy), Sandra Neidhart of Austin (and sons Preston, Nathan, and Carter), Tresa Surley of Dublin (and children Tinsley and Bryce Sims, and sons Brad, Mitch, and Grant Surley). He is survived also by his sister, Polly Cummings, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Gertrude Brown, 10 brothers and sisters, and his parents-in-law, Monroe and Lillian Schrank.
Billy Mac farmed and ranched their property in the Aleman community on nights and weekends, while having a longtime construction business building custom homes, nursing homes, commercial buildings, and government housing across Texas. He was an avid hunter and proudly won the Trans Pecos Big Buck Tournament in November 1999. He took up golf in his 50’s and made numerous friends at the Perry Country Club. On May 4, 2013, at the Harry Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament, he hit a hole-in-one on #5. His greatest joy was his family and his highest honor was being “Papa” to his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his ready smile, plain-spoken talk, hard work ethic, occasional temperamental outburst, and boundless energy that eventually ran out after a life well lived.
