

Glenn Michael Sewell was killed in action June 13, 2011 in Wasit Province, Iraq during Operation New Dawn. Glenn was born September 4, 1987 in San Antonio, Texas and was 23 years old. Glenn was incredibly fortunate to have three families who loved him dearly. They include; his Mother Charlotte Amalie Hedgpeth, his Fathers Ryan Patrick Friesenhahn and Michael Karl Sewell, little sister Sarah Katherine Friesenhahn, Grandparents Harold & Anne Hedgpeth, Irene Friesenhahn, Marjorie & Irvin Sewell, Godparent Donna Kaminski, girlfriend Haley Bryhana Rogge and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by Grandfather Matthew Friesenhahn and Godfather Gerald Hernandez. Glenn was a graduate of Judson High School, Class of 2005. He excelled in Academic Decathlon, music and drama and was active in The Boy Scouts of America Troop 821 for many years. Glenn attended college for one year, but felt that for his life the military would be more meaningful, and entered active-duty service in November 2007 as a Cavalry Scout. He completed a tour in Afghanistan in 2009 and then he was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team,1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood and in 2011was deployed to Fort Liberty in Iraq. Glenn was very passionate about his career in the military and did not consider himself to be a Hero, he felt he was just doing his job. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in his memory to the USO Organization through www.uso.org. Visitation will be held at the Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton, Texas at 10:00am on Friday June 24, 2011, followed by a gravesite service at Live Oak Cemetery in Hamilton County Texas at 1:00pm. A memorial service will be held at The Blue Bonnet Palace in Selma, Texas from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday June 25, 2011.
