Bobby was born on March 17, 1929 in Dublin, Texas, the son of James R. (Bob) Stephen and Della Mae Stewart Stephen. He married Grace Marie Robbins on May 14, 1948. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2013 after 65 years of marriage. Grace was the love of his life.
In 1958, Grace and Bobby moved to Hamilton and purchased the Dairy Kream, now Storms. In the early sixties they built the Market Basket next door. Ultimately they sold both businesses after he became the mailman on City Route 2. He truly enjoyed seeing and serving his friends each day on his mail route. In retirement, he and Grace had fun seeing the western US in their travel trailer. His trees kept him busy after morning coffee at Storms. And bluebonnet season was a favorite time of the year. Bobby was a kind-hearted soul. He was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Laura Mae Howard and a sister in law, Dorothy Nell Pittman Botard. He is survived by his sons Mark and Mike and his wife, Marion Coats; one sister, Virginia Healy; and one sister-in-law, Ellanietta Keenum.
