Janie Marie Manning, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Hamilton, Texas. Janie was born the daughter of Homer and Minnie Smith on May 16, 1942 in San Saba, Texas. After graduating from high school, Janie married Leo Johnson. They were blessed with four daughters Pam, Paula, Phyllis, and Patty.
Janie lived in Evant, Texas for most of her life where she was employed as a nurse. Janie had a big heart for the elderly and was honored to help make sure they were properly cared for.
She felt that it was a privilege to use her skills to serve and honor the elderly members of the Evant community. It was there that she met Donald Jack Manning. In 1976, Janie and D.J. Manning got married and began raising their families together.
Janie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed getting together to visit with her many relatives. She loved to cook, and always made sure her family had plenty to eat. She enjoyed baking, working in her flower garden, and watching football on Sunday afternoon. She put a lot of effort into keeping up with her ever growing family. There were many hours spent on the phone with her daughters making sure everyone in her family was safe and happy.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents Minnie Josephine Smith and Homer Newell Smith, her sister Reva Hazel Edgerton, and her brother Homer Newell Smith Jr. She is survived by her sister Peggy Ruth Spinks of San Saba and her brother Sammy Malloy Smith of Stephenville.
She is also survived by her daughters and their families, as well as many members of her extended family.
Pamela Kay McIlroy and Robert Earl McIlroy III of Adamsville and their children - Misty Lynn Erwin, Robert Earl McIlroy IV and Scot McIlroy.
Paula Le’Ann Biddle and Barry Jay Biddle of Tyler. Together they have two children, Chad Ray Biddle and Leanna Marie Biddle.
Phyllis Jane Holland and Randy Holland of San Saba and their children, Justin Graham, JT Holland, and Billy-Wayne Holland.
Patty Jo Conner, her husband Randol Lee Conner of Hamilton and their three children, Travis Randol Conner, Lacy Marie Engelstad, and Mason Neil Conner.
Quentin Lee Manning, his wife Regan Manning of Atlanta, and their two children Aaron Jack Manning and Ava Lynn Manning.
Janie Manning is survived by her thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews, her step-children, and their respective families. Her step-children are Sterling, Jesse, Glenda, Karon, and Alan.
Pallbearers will be Janie’s male grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Scot McIlory, Chad Biddle, Travis and Mason Conner, Justin Graham, JT and Billy Waye Holland, Aaron Manning, Nolan Conner, Asher Graham and Jaxson Erwin.
Honorable Pallbearers will be Janie’s female grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Misty McIlroy, Leanna Biddle, Lacy Engelstad, Leona Engelstad, Jolee Conner, Elyse McIlroy, Piper McIlroy, Prescot McIlroy, Prairie Jo McIlroy, Niki Graham, and Avery Graham.
Janie Manning will be greatly missed by everyone. We love you Mom!
