Mrs. Ramos was born on April 12, 1966, the daughter of the late Larry Barger and Sharon Kromer in Amarillo, Texas. She grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma with her mother and graduated from Lawton High School, although she spent many summers with her dad in Granbury, Texas on Comanche Peak. She married Edwin Ramos-Rivera on December 24, 1985 at the courthouse in Lawton, OK. She was a stay at home mom for many years to her two girls before moving to Hamilton, TX in 1997. There she worked as a nurse’s aide at the old Hamilton Hospital, a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide with the special education kids and for 10 years at the Hamilton Clinic as a nurse’s aide for Dr. Lengefeld. While working for the Hamilton Healthcare System, Kim developed a wonderful and personal relationship with all her patients. They would come in asking for her by name, and adored her for her personality and sense of humor. Many of the doctors and nurses didn’t just see her as a co-worker; they saw her as a great friend. She was one of those people that you couldn’t just help but love her. Her laughter was contagious, no matter how down you were. She wore her heart on her sleeve and would help out anyone who asked to the best of her ability.
Mrs. Ramos enjoyed camping at the lake (her favorites being Proctor and Whitney) where she enjoyed fishing and just relaxing in the shade with a good book. She was a wonderful mother to her two girls, Nicole and Megan. She was very supportive in everything they were involved in; from being a Girl Scout leader to teaching the girls how to care for hogs for stock show. Even as adults, the girls considered Kim their best friend. And Kim loved her grandkids more than anything. She was a wonderful Mamamaw, being there for each of them from birth, and helping raise them as one of her own. She never missed a game, a recital, or a play, and was their biggest fan. She would tell anyone who listened about them with such pride and joy. They were her livelihood, and she would do anything above and beyond for them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Barger and step-mother, Joyce Barger and her step-brothers, Wesley Pospech, Tommy Pospech, and Richard Pospech.
Survivors include her husband Ed Ramos; mother, Sharon Kromer and her husband Arthur of Hamilton; brother Kevin Barger; daughters Nikki Schrank and husband Shannon of Baytown; Megan Allen of Hamilton; and grandchildren Hannah, Caleb and Bayleigh Allen, Wyatt Schrank and baby Hunter Schrank due in March.
