

It is with great sadness that the family of Jose (Pepe) Rojas announces his passing on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 79 years. Pepe was born in Mexico City, Mexico on January 11, 1940. Before he legally immigrated to the United States at the age of 27, he worked at Telefonos de Mexico in the accounting department. Later he became a manager for La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Covina, California where he met his wife, Connie Johnson. Shortly after they married in 1976, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where he opened his own Mexican restaurant, La Villa Bonita with his sister, Chela and brother-in-law, Jonathon Heaton. In 1984 they moved back to Victorville, California where he managed several restaurants, and later managed, and later owned the Red Pepper. He retired in the year 2000. He enjoyed playing tennis at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club and participating in club tournaments where he won several trophies. He had 14 grandchildren, and was expecting one more in October. He loved being a husband, father, and grandfather (papa) and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pepe is survived by his wife, Connie and their six children, Marcy Christofferesen (husband, Aaron), Chelita Mendoza (husband, Armando), Jose (Camacho) Rojas Jr., Armando Rojas (wife, Ellen), Carlos Rojas (wife, Jasmine), and Andrea Moore (husband, Ryan). He also leaves behind his sisters, Martha Rojas Reyes and Celia Rojas Heaton, and brothers, Armando Rojas and Juan Rojas.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 12100 Ridgecrest Rd., Victorville, California. Internment will immediately follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Apple Valley at 1:00 pm.
