

He is survived by his beloved wife and companion, Pnina, his, two children Keren and Eli, who he adored, encouraged and entertained, and his brother Jack. His parents Sylvia and Herbert Powell and brother Paul predeceased him.
Saul was born in Philadelphia on October 13, 1953, where he received his BSc in Pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1976 and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Medical College of Philadelphia in 1983. He pursued post-doctoral studies at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (1986), where he met Pnina followed by a Faculty Fellowship at the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine, (1987).
He has been associated with the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research, North Shore- LIJ Health System since 1987 pursing research focused n cardiac tissue injury and penetrative measures funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. He cherished his colleagues in his lab.
Dr. Powell was on the faculty at the Hofstra North Shore- LIJ School of Medicine, Department of Molecular medicine and was active in intramural graduate education both at the medical school at the Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine. Dr. Powell has also taught undergraduate courses at LIU Post for many years
Grave-Site Services will be held on Thursday12/31, begin exactly at 1:00 PM at Beth Moses Cemetery - 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704. Shiva will be observed from Thursday 12/31 afternoon through evening of Wednesday 01/06 at the late residence - . Donations in memory of Dr. Powell can be made to the American Heart Association
