Alfreda "Fritz" Gabor

Alfreda V. “Fritz” Gabor, age 89, of Griffith, passed away peacefully at St. Anthony Hospital on Saturday, February 13, 2010. She is survived by her daughter: Donna Gabor of Griffith, son: Gregory(Sandy) Gabor of Lagrange, IN, two grandchildren: Amy(Kevin) Kelley and Jennifer(Mike) Greene, great grandchildren: Grace, Ryan, and Aidan Kelley, Andrew, Ashleigh, and Jillian Greene. Also surviving is one brother: Chester Gorak, two sisters: Charlotte Kutz and Lorraine Montague; sisters-in-law: Mary Gabor and Marcia Gabor, loving caregiver and companion: Kim Y. Wright of Gary; her cat: Lucy, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter A. Gabor. Prayers will be held at Kuiper Funeral Home at 9:30 AM on Thursday, February 18, 2010 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 525 N. Broad Street, Griffith, Indiana, with Rev. Theodore Mens, officiating. Entombment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 4-9 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd.(2 blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, Indiana. There will be a prayer service at 8:30 PM Wednesday evening. Fritz was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Griffith. She was a member of the Ladies Rosary Society. After raising her children, she was a housekeeper at St. Mary’s rectory for 25 years. Fritz loved her cat and took care of the birds and squirrels in her yard. She was a loving wife and mother and a generous and kind lady. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Calumet Area.
