

Alice Ruth Reese Bensing of Valparaiso, In formerly of Waukegan, Il Alice was born in Harvey, Il on April 26,1933, she went with her Savior on May 26,2010 in Valparaiso, IN. Alice was born with cerebral palsy, but that did not keep her from living a full life. She graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1951 and Thornton Junior College in 1953. She attended Northern State Teachers College (which became Northern Illinois University). She married Robert C. Bensing in 1955 , she later moved to Waukegan, IL and graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI in 1971. Alice was a mother and school teacher. She was active in church, school, and community activities. Alice visited to many places around the country, including Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, and Hawaii. Alice is survived by three sons Stephen J. (Betty) Bensing of Valparaiso, IN, William C. Bensing of Grayslake, IL,Douglas R. (Jill) Bensing of Arlington Heights, Il, five grandchildren Luke, Silas, Isaac Bensing, Andrew, Marion Bensing, three great-grandchildren Izabella, Carly, Jett. Preceded in death by her husband Bob, granddaughter Lydia, parents Robert & Vera Reese, one sister Helen Reese, brother Robert Reese Jr. Friends may visit with the family on Friday May 28,2010 from 4 to 8 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Rd( two blocks south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at South Haven Christian Church (780 Juniper Rd) Valparaiso, IN. Additional services and burial will be held in Illinois. Following the death of her husband Alice moved to Valparaiso to live with her son Steve & Betty Bensing, she became a member of South Haven Christian Church and continued to be active in church and community activities. Following a ballgame at Comisky Park in 1953, Bob proposed to Alice, She became a lifelong White Sox fan. Memorial donations may be made to South Haven Christian School
