Alice Patricia Best

Alice Patricia Best, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, age 88, of Munster IN, passed away Wednesday September 17, 2025. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Vicki) Best and Nancy (Alex) Pappas; grandchildren, Zachary Best, Matthew Pappas, and Amanda Pappas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Veronica Filipowicz; brothers, Mack Filips, Thomas Filipowicz, Jr., and Theodore Filipowicz; and sister, Genevieve Koritko.

Alice was a dedicated and loving wife of 59 years to her husband, Dorcey, who meant everything to her. She was a loving grandmother, helped raise all of her grandchildren, and enjoyed watching their sporting events and other performances. Alice was a homemaker most of her life, but she also worked several jobs throughout, including as a secretary for a law firm. Alice was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Merrillville, IN, and later, St. Maria Goretti in Dyer, IN. Alice was an avid bowler with her husband, Dorcey, and enjoyed Saturday night bowling league for many years, trips to Las Vegas, and watching Chicago Bears games and James Bond movies. Alice will be greatly missed by her entire family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at 10:00 am at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN 46311. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
