Donald Allen Schiewer

He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1944 until his retirement in 1989. During his time with the railroad, Donald also served in the U.S. Navy, taking a leave of absence from the railroad to serve before returning to his career at the railroad after his discharge.

Donald was a beloved father to his children, Donald M. "Duke" (Bonnie) Schiewer, Judy Schiewer, Donald L. (Denise) Schiewer, and David A. (Tracy) Schiewer. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters, Barbara (Dan) Golwitzer and Linda (Leonard) Miller.

He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with two great-great-grandchildren who also survive him.

Donald had many passions throughout his life, including a love for golf and bowling. He was also deeply committed to his faith and held his church, First United Methodist Church of Griffith, very dear.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Reich; his sister, Mae; and his brother, Robert.

A visitation for Donald will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322, followed by a memorial service from 3:00 to 3:30 PM.

Donald will be remembered for his devotion to family, service, and faith, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
