DOROTHY G. LAKATOS (NEE HANYZEWSKI) SCHERERVILLE, IN Dorothy G. Lakatos (nee Hanyzewski), age 93 of Schererville, IN, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012. She is survived by two children: James (Gail) Lakatos of Frankfort, IL and Kathleen (Scott) Kuykendall of Schererville, IN; seven grandchildren: Edward McBride of Schererville, IN, Paula (Patrick) Butler of Ohio, Michael McBride of Crown Point, IN, Rob (Leslie) Lakatos of Kansas City, Kansas, Rhonda (William) Goodwin of Crown Point, IN, Michael Kadich of Tinley Park, IL and Jon Kadich of Frankfort, IL; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, Eugene (late Loretta) Hanyzewski of Highland, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lakatos was preceded in death by husband, Solomon; parents: Martin and Josephine Hanyzewski; two brothers: Martin and Paul Hanyzewski; sister-in-law, Sally Hanyzew- ski; and grandson, Ryan Lakatos. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Mrs. Lakatos was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Griffith and a member of their Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Over Fifty Club of St. Mary Church. She was a former member serving on the Board of Directors of the Griffith Swinging Seniors and was a member of the Griffith Grandmother's Club. Dorothy was a member for 63 years of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary Post #369 of East Chicago. She retired from Rand McNally with 30 years of service, retiring in 1980.
