Geraldine Coffey

Gerry was the loving wife to the late John W. Schmiedel, then married the later love of her life, the late Robert Coffey; beloved mother to Diane (Larry) Crawford, Janet Smith, Mary (Stan) Moore, Sherree (Russ) Jackson, and Julie Theil; cherished grandmother to Kristin (Jason) Sturges, John (Kim) Crawford, Robert (Jamie) Crawford, Alissia (James) Matthews, Tina (Phil) Hajduk, Brian (Samantha) Smith, Sarah (Paul) Morin, Jacob Jackson, Christine Jackson, Dale Theil and Jamie (Brett) Hill; proud "GiGi" to many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; fond sister to Roy (the late Marilyn) Cutrell and Marilyn (Dave) Sodergren.

She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, James Smith and Ron Mitchell; and her parents, Teman and Helen "$ Grandma" Cutrell.

She was lifelong and faithful member of First United Methodist of Griffith. Gerry worked many jobs to help with the family, but working in the medical field was her favorite. Gerry and her husband Bob enjoyed being snowbirds in the winter months in Florida for several years. She was a loyal member of the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed several activities. Gerry was an avid Bunco player for over 70 years, where she loved all of her "Bunco Babes." She was a gentle soul, but growing up a tomboy made her strong and tough with all of the adversaries she faced in life. Gerry especially enjoyed spending time with her large family and the chaos and excitement that came with it, and was game for anything.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of her Funeral at 1:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, John Schmiedel.
