Herchel L Stevens

Herchel L. Stevens, age 77, of Griffith, IN passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine (nee Mackowiak); three children: Pat (Tony) Nashkoff of Griffith, Sandy (Bob) Stack of Griffith and Greg (Tracey) Stevens of Porter; four grandchildren: Andrew Nashkoff, Sara Nashkoff, Emily Stack and Bobby Stack; one great-grandddaughter, Leah Nashkoff; three brothers: James Stevens, David (Ruth) Stevens and Larry (Joan) Stevens; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Stevens retired from Burns Security International with 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Stevens was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Herchel's loving memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
