Herman M. Wiersma

Herman M. Wiersma, age 82, of Highland, passed away May 13, 2010. He is survived by his wife: Joan of 61 years; two sons: Jim(Patty) Wiersma of Hammond and Tom(Sue) Wiersma of Griffith; two daughters: Kathy(Mark) Norman of Calumet Township and Pat Wiersma of Lebanon, IN; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters-in –law: Henrietta (late Hessel) Wiersma of CA, Betty (late Ray) Wiersma of CA, Bernice (late Fred) Oosterhoff of IL and Marge (late Ralph) Lolkema of Highland. He was preceded in death by his son: Larry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the New Life Christian Reformed Church(formerly Second Christian Reformed Church), 3010 Ridge Rd., Highland, Indiana with Pastor Bill Sytsma, officiating. Interment at Hope Cemetery, Highland. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 2-8 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd.(2 blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, Indiana. Herman was a member of the New Life Christian Reformed Church in Highland. He was retired from the Highland Police Department after 22 years of service and was a member of the Highland F.O.P.
