

Born in Gary, IN, James lived a full and devoted life centered on faith, family, and service.
James honorably served in the United States Army for two years. He went on to enjoy a 38-year career as an electrician at Inland Steel, from which he retired. James had a passion for staying active—he enjoyed bike riding, jogging, and earned a black belt in karate. Above all, he loved and treasured his wife and family deeply, and his legacy of strength, warmth, and dedication will be forever remembered.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ivan and Edith Moss.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, JoAnne Moss. He was a devoted father to Sandra (Thomas) Hoffman, Cynthia (Nick) Admave, James (Debra) Moss, Kenneth (Anita) Moss, and Ronald (Ellen) Moss. He was the proud grandfather of Megan, Christine, Joseph, Erin, Jim, Jeremy, Elijah, Steven, Ashley, Benjamin, and Alex, and great-grandfather to six cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear sister, Eva (Ed) Myers.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. A mass of christian burial will take place on Thursday, May 22,2025 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3025 Highway Avenue, Highland, IN 46322. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
