JB Powell

JB Powell, age 89, of Griffith, IN passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. He was born June 25, 1923 in Hopkinsville, KY to the late Jake and Vannie Powell. He is survived by his wife, Anita Jane; sister, Loyce Ann Telford; daughter, Ellen (Donald) Holland; son, Jerry (Rachel) Powell; daughter, Linda (Otto) Gebhardt; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace; one brother; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Pastor Ryan Gilroy officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. JB attended Southlake Christian Church in Crown Point. He retired from Painter's Local #460 in Hammond and was a member of the Griffith Masonic Lodge #735 F&AM who will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
