John E. Craven, age 76, of Griffith, IN passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; three sons: Scott (Rikke) Craven, Mark (Sandi) Craven and Richard Craven; seven grandchildren: Dustin Patterson, Sarah, Paul, Amanda, Garret, Matias and Lucas Craven; five great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary (Gerald) Madajczyk and Marie (David) Harper; best friend and fishing buddy Paul Brown; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by parents: John and Nema Craven; and brother Eugene Craven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Mary Catholic Church, 525 N. Broad St., Griffith, IN with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.
