John "Tuffy" F Matusik

John F. Matusik "Tuffy", age 86 of Crown Point, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 with his loving family at his side. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Sylvia, of 64 years; his children: Teresa (Gerald) Russell, Margaret (Jerry) Krysa, John (Marilou) Matusik, and Patti (Greg) Bacan; 11 grandchildren: Allison, Caryn, Emily, Jill, Nick, John, Sarah, Katie ,Matthew, Lucas, and Christopher, 12 great grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Ann) Matusik; sister, Jeanne (Ray) Macek; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents: John and Stefania; brothers: Joe, Walter, and Ted; sisters: Mary and Anna; and grandsons: John and Michael. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Mary Catholic Church, 525 N. Broad, Griffith, IN with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Burial with follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. Tuffy was a WW II Navy veteran, proud fireman for the City of East Chicago, IN for 21 years, a member of American Legion Post 78, avid fisherman, and Cub fan.
