Kyle William Kooi died November 13, 2021, in his home, at the age of 26, due to complications of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born to Allison Kooi on October 7, 1995, in Houston Texas, and soon after moved to Highland Indiana where he attended Southridge Elementary and Highland Middle School. As a child he played baseball and soccer, became a Boy Scout of America and enjoyed vacationing at McCormick’s Creek Indiana State Park with his mother and close friends.
His spiritual walk began at Trinity Reformed Church in Munster Indiana. In grade school he attended Suburban Bible Church Youth Group Awana’s Program. Just before high school he and his mother moved to Fremont Indiana, where Kyle began searching for a new fellowship.
He graduated from Fremont High School and held several different jobs until settling at Clemens Food Group in Coldwater Michigan, where worked as team captain on a processing line. He had future aspirations of working in the USDA. In his leisure he enjoyed watching anime and engaging in on-line Play Station gaming.
As a toddler, small child and even a baby, Kyle’s huge heart and infectious smile amazed everyone he saw. This spilled over into his adulthood and he became someone everyone wanted to call their friend. He was always fatherly to his friend’s children and truly wanted children of his own one day.
Kyle is survived by his mother Allison; his grandparents, Bill and Lorraine Kooi; his uncles, Keith, David and Kenny Kooi (his wife, Carrie); his aunt, Jennifer Bobruk (her husband Joe); his cousins Ryan, Sammy, Nathan, Ethan Kooi and Heather Weilogorski.
Family will receive friends at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN, on Saturday, November 27, from noon-4pm, when services will begin. Memorial services in the Fremont area will be announced later.
