

She was born on June 20, 1925, and raised in Hazard, KY to the late John Frederick and Martha Surer. Louise was 19 years old when she moved to Kingsbury, IN to make ammunition during World War II. She later moved to Chicago, IL to work in factories and as a waitress. Louise retired from the factories and restaurants to move back to Hazard to take care of her family and friends. She later moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Lake Station, and then Orlando to live under their care for the remainder of her life.
Louise is survived by her loving daughter, Jewel (Arthur) Howard; her granddaughter, Julie (Drew) Wahlberg; her great-grandchildren, Andie, Alyex, and Frederick Wahlberg; and very special extended family, Mia and Emery Flory.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Thelma (nee Surer) Watts, George Surer, and James Surer.
Louise will be remembered as a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma Weezie. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Louise will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11:00 am until time of the service at 12:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
