Michael A. Mc Carney

Michael A McCarney, age 70 of Griffith, IN passed away July 26, 2015. He is survived by his wife Joan, two sons Michael and Patrick (Christy), granddaughter Mary Louise, sister Jocelyn (Larry) Vereb, cousin David (Peggy) Rapson, and preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius & Alice McCarney. Michael was born in Joliet, IL and raised in Gary, IN. He graduated from Lew Wallace High School, and then from Purdue University, where he was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Psi band fraternity. He spent 30 years working at CNA Insurance, retiring as executive vice-president. Instead of retiring in leisure, he started a new career with Coldwell Banker Real Estate, and also taught real estate pre-licensing classes, which became his true passion. He was elected to serve on the GNIAR Board of Directors. Mike was lucky to have three careers that he loved. Memorial services will be held Thursday July 30, 2015 10:30 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Rd (two blocks south of Ridge RD) Highland, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday July 29, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
