Miriam L. Jansen age 85 of Demotte, IN passed away Tuesday February 25, 2014. Miriam is survived by husband of 63 years, Billy; one son David (Judy) Jansen of Washington state; two grandchildren: Matthew Jansen of Alaska and Michael Jansen of Washington state; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Karen (Manny) Martinez of Lansing and Lois Bryant of Kansas. She was preceded in death by daughter Debbie, parents Adolph and Naomi Penning, and sister, Evelyn. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 1, 2014 at Ross Community Reformed Church, 3900 W 41st Ave., Calumet Township at 10 AM and officiated by Rev. Steve Van Eck. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday February 28 from 3-8 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland. Miriam was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Demotte. She was formerly employed at Christensen Hardware and Furniture in Griffith.
