Dear Ones:  I just learned that this Guest Book existed, so I'm a little late in adding to it.  I have many good memories of Phil.  He was such a great brother.  He didn't drop me in the water when carrying me across the creek with a wet firecracker that went off in his mouth.  He helped us dig a "swimming pool" in the back yard out in the country in West Terre Haute.  He helped clean out a small room in our garage so we could have a playhouse.  He taught me how to ride a two-wheeler.  When we moved to Hammond, he and our cousin Norman left me to walk home alone on the first day of school, and had to come back to get me.  (I forgave him.)  I can still see him and Bob Alyea talking airplanes out on the boulevard at 510 Cherry St. and making all the noises and gestures of dive bombers strafing the enemy (WWII).  I can see the two of them seated at a workbench in our basement, building model airplanes.  (That's how he got the name "Turtle-neck, Pinhead, Balsawood Brain"!)  I remember him coming to help Mom and Corlie and me move the sewing machine down the stairs, all of us struggling with that heavy and unwieldy thing and laughing so hard we made ourselves weak.  He got such a kick out of the green Cushman motor scooter he bought and rode all over the neighborhood, giving all the kids rides.  I remember Phil and Bob Alyea rowing a boat around the fields across Harrison Avenue when we had a big rain that flooded most of the area.  It was fun watching him play baseball with the church ball team.  He was a pretty good player. I remember one of the few all-family vacations we spent in a cabin on a lake in Wisconsin.  You went with us, Doris.  Though it rained every single day, you kept us entertained reading stories from some old magazines we found there.  And I always think of the dormer between our two upstairs rooms where Phil had a little plaque that read "Friendship ain't just claspin' hands and sayin' 'Howdy do'.  Friendship grips a feller's heart, and warms it through and through."  Phil was a great big brother, and a good friend, too.  I'm so glad that I got to spend a week with him last April.  It was good to reminisce with him and Corlie, Harold and you and hear him spout pun after pun. What a wry sense of humor!  What a guy!  I'll miss him.

it's hard to know what to say as it was hard for people to say to us at the Homegoing of our precious son, Mark, just six years ago. Phil was the BEST brother there could EVER be. My husband and I had the pleasure of being invited to the family's home in Wheatfield. Mr.Cox showed us his beautiful planes, and you could tell he was so proud of them. I know that he is looking down from Heaven and keeping a loving eye on his family. Everyone was truly blessed to have him in their life. God Bless.

Dear Ones ALL !!   Herm & I read about Phil's Homegoing with much sadness - and yet - with happiness that he is out of his suffering body !!  Oh how we cherish the many memories of our life long friendship with him & you, Doris - also the girls & Judy & Corliss !!  You are in our prayers as you walk this very difficult journey of loss.
