

Robert J. Kramer, age 88, of Highland, IN passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 13th, 2017. He is survived by three children: Lawrence (Sandy) Kramer, Michele Spoljaric and Cheryl (Douglas) Highsmith; Proud grandfather of: Christian and Keith Kramer, Brandon Spoljaric, Nicholas (Rachel) Spoljaric, Jenna Spoljaric, Brandi Highsmith, Briana (Naomi) Highsmith and great grandfather to Mary Spoljaric. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn E. Kramer (nee Emond) and grandson, Tyler Highsmith. Robert served as a Sergeant for the U.S. Army from 1946-1950 in Germany. Robert was a plumber by trade, who later became a business agent for Plumbers Local Union 307 of Hammond, IN and then became President of the Indiana Pipe Trades. Robert was a recipient of the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award, presented to him by Governor Evan Bayh. Robert was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family, friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Rev. Edward Moszur officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family Saturday, August 19th, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (time of service) at Kuiper Funeral Home.
