Born on April 17th, 1958, in Elizabethton, TN, Ron was the son of the late Rev. Paul Lane and Aloma (née Gouge) Lane. He was raised alongside his younger sister, Sandra (Kenneth) Heath.
Ron grew up in North Hammond and was a graduate of Hammond High School, Class of 1976. He was a proud Wildcat and loved to reminisce of his high school days on the soccer field and the many adventures he and his lifelong friends had growing up.
Ron fancied himself quite the ladies man in his day, blessing him with some cinematic love stories that led to a few children. Toby (Alisha) Ward, Alisha (Cliff) Pearson, Jerimy Lane, and Kurt (Tori) Martinez. They went on to bless him with many grandchildren, Braedon (Sidney), Brycen, and Brennan Ward; Madison, Kennedy, Cliff, and Carter Pearson; Kylee Lane; and Beverly Orne.
Throughout most of his working life, Ron thrived as a car salesman—truly the perfect career for him. He possessed the gift to gab, never meeting a stranger, and could sell ice to an Eskimo. When he wasn't selling cars, he was chauffeuring people around in them. Showing up to take his grandchildren for a surprise ride in a limo was one of his favorite things to do.
You could often find Ron cheering on or betting on his favorite sports teams, including the Chicago White Sox, the Raiders, the Bulls, and the Blackhawks. He spent many years in various bowling and softball leagues, always eager for a good time and to bring home a win.
Ron spent the last few years traveling with his mother, going wherever the wind and a few dollars would take them, always with a beach in mind. He would have lived on the beach if he was able to.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Paul Lane; paternal grandparents, Clayton and Pearl (née Miller) Lane; and maternal grandparents, Samuel and Edna (née Simerly) Gouge.
